Am Ende des Abends lauschte ihm nur noch eine Handvoll Menschen, als er nun ohne Mikrophon seine ganz eigene Version von Jesus Leben vortrug. Zum 80. Geburtstag von Klaus Kinski am 18. Oktober 2006 wird Jesus Christus Erlöser erstmals veröffentlicht, gemeinsam mit den Gedichten Fieber Tagebuch eines Aussätzigen, die Kinski in den fünfziger Jahren schrieb und die bei ihrem Erscheinen 2001 vom Focus als "literarische Entdeckung des Jahres" bezeichnet wurden.
